Sundresses & Sunshine

Who am I to kid anyone, one of my top 5 favorite things about summer is being able to put on a simple sundress and magically look put together. Don’t get me wrong, I adore fashion, but I love the effortless look of a sundress. One of my favorite websites to buy simple sundresses is Tobi. Everything is super affordable, and new items are always 30% off! Any basically everything on their site comes in mint or teal (my favorite colors), so they have officially stolen my heart.

With summer winding down, I am feeling the sudden urge to adventure and explore in my own city. I look back at my planner and realize I spent very few weekends here in Seattle. In the spirit of spontaneity, a few girlfriends and I decided to hop on the water taxi downtown and spend the day on Alki. I haven’t spent a lot of time on Alki, but I am hooked! The boardwalk, skaters, sand, and amount of ice cream being consumed truly made me feel like I was in a little beach town. It is amazing to me that you can escape the hustle bustle of the city in just 15 minutes and find yourself in a place with a completely different vibe. I don’t know if it was the mimosas on the deck at Christo’s On Alki, or the sunburn I was acquiring, but for the first time in a long time I felt like Seattle was where I wanted to be.

As summer winds down, I am going to enjoy the best that Seattle has to offer. Please let me know of any secret rooftop happy hours that are going on behind my back. Until next time… Salutations, Sunburns & Seahawks.

A Seattle Summer to Remember

I think we can all agree, this summer has been phenomenal. With what seems like endless sunny days, I can’t even begin to fathom the idea that summer may actually end. At the beginning of summer I promised myself that I would go on as many adventures as possible, do what I want to do, see what I wanted to see. All in all, I am happy. Countless weekends spent at the Gorge, staying out too late on weeknights for sunset cruises on the lake, and countless evenings on the roof giggling and drinking wine. All in all, I don’t think I can beat this summer. And to top it all off, there is still so much summer to enjoy. Football, bbqs, birthdays, trip planning & many more memories to be made. Time to start planning my next adventure. I am no good at Seattle’s rainy season. Peace, love & popsicle’s. Image

Fun Fun Fun!

My favorite time of the year is when I open that new note on my iPhone and make my summertime bucket list! The theme of Summer 2013 is ‘Do more of what makes you happy’ (yes, I theme my summers) and I intend on living this one to the fullest. The Solstice isn’t even until June 21st, but summer mode has already been engaged for me. Here is stage one of the Summer 2013 bucket list:

  1. Road trip to Santa Barbara to see Blythe & stop at 10 of the 425 Wineries along the way. I love Roadtrippers. It lets you plan your road trip and find tons of fun stuff to do along the way!
  2. Run a 5K. This is a rollover from Summer 2012, but this year I am doing it! My room mate & I are running the Sound Orthodontics Alki Beach 5K to benefit women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
  3. Go paddle boarding, a lot. This was one of my favorite things to do in Maui, and there is no reason not to do it here!
  4. Learn how to play two songs on the guitar
  5. Go to the Farmers Market. I have a serious obsession with Farmers markets and in the past, I have had to stay away from them due to my acquire a ridiculous amount of homemade soaps and candles. Recovery over, bring it on Ballard Farmers Market.
  6. Go to more shows. Marymoor Park has an unbelievable summer lineup, and its conveniently located right next to my office! Check out their summer schedule here. You will find me dancing in the grass.
  7. Redecorate! As a realistic Seattle resident, I know I am going to have to spend sometime indoors. Time for crafts, shopping and redecorating until 3am!
  8. READ. I am in a downward spiral of reading trashy books, but this summer I am going to get my classics on and read The Essays of Ralph Waldo Emerson. I downloaded it on my iPad 4 months ago. It’s time.

I think I can tackle that. Stay tuned for phase 2! Sunshine & somersaults.
